I was at my local Toys R Us this morning and what did I find but four Wave 3 characters hanging on the wall. Lava Lance Eruptor, Splat, Hurricane Jet-Vac and Big Bubble Pop Fizz were all there. What wasn’t there were any of the Wave 3 vehicles: Shield Striker, Splatter Splasher and Thump Truck. There were also no new dual packs, triple packs or action packs, but these tend to trail the main release anyway. I’m guessing we’ll just see these other items trickle in in the coming weeks as they become available.

Were a week away from Black Friday 2015 as most sales will start on Thursday 11/26. Elite Voodood Out Tomorrow
It’s finally here! Year 2 of Eon’s Elite characters begins as Elite Voodood is out tomorrow at your local Toys R Us. He is the first of three Eon’s Elite year 2 characters that will be released in November. On November 8th Elite Zook will be released followed by Elite Slam Bam on November 15th. All three of these characters will be exclusive to Toys R Us. Last year it didn’t seem like the characters were very limited, but Toys R Us is limiting 1 per customer per week, so it’s hard to say what the demand will be for these characters this year. If you are interested in Elite Voodood, I would plan on visiting your Toys R Us tomorrow to find out.

Well, even though I didn’t need any of the SuperChargers Skylanders currently on sale at Toys R Us this week. I happened to stop by the store anyway for other reasons. To my pleasant surprise I found that the Legendary Sky Racing Pack had been released featuring Legendary Astroblast, the Legendary Sun Runner, and the Wolfgang Sky Racing Trophy. If you find yourself in need of the latest and greatest Skylanders, then you will be able to pick this up today. My store had plenty despite the fact that the website told me that none were in the stores near me within 100 miles, so don’t let the websites inventory checker stop you. Good Luck!

Yesterday I looked back at the Trap Team articles that I wrote about the launch of Wave 2 and was surprised to see, that I got the Wave 2 characters for Trap Team just 2 days after launch. So I made a trip this morning to my local Toys R Us. At first I saw nothing new on the shelves, but after talking to the employee I learned that Wave 2 SuperChargers had just come out today. They had the boxes behind the counter and not even on the shelves yet. So I was able to pick up each of new single pack characters for Wave 2. I checked other retailer’s websites, and it does not appear that Wave 2 is out anywhere else except Amazon.com. Typically Toys R Us gets the jump by a week or two on other retailers, so if you are sticking to GameStop or Best Buy, you may have to wait a while. Best Buy also still has a couple of Character Dual Packs on the website with a release date of 10/2. I would guess this is when they would have the rest of Wave 2 as well.

I found something interesting today as I was exploring various retailer pages for Skylanders SuperChargers. GameStop has a couple listing for some SuperChargers based remote controlled cars. You will soon be able to get Fiesta and his Crypt Crusher, or Spitfire and his Hot Streak in a remote control toy. I believe this is our first collectible sighting for the new game! It might be considered more of a toy than a collectible but it depends on how many of these cars eventually comes out. For now, there are just two of them listed on GameStop’s website, and they do not appear on any other major retailer that I could find. This could mean that they will be a GameStop exclusive, but I could see where these may eventually find their way onto shelves at Target, Toys R Us or maybe even Walmart. I don’t expect these to be a very high quality, but who knows. The SuperChargers RC Cars are listed for $29.99 on the GameStop website and have a release date of 9/15, meaning you might be able to get your hands on these before the game is released.

Today Activision announced a brand new deck building game that will mix the typical physical card collecting, card battle game with the ability to take the cards online and bring them to life for digital competition on mobile devices. It sounds like a mixture of the Pokemon Card Game with the typical wonder of being able to bring your Skylanders to life in a digital form. The game will be free to play from the Apple, Google, and Amazon app stores however, the existence of physical cards indicates that there will be plenty of cards to buy or upgrade. There is no word yet on how the gameplay will work, but I’m sure we’ll learn more before this game hits in 2016.
We’re huge collectors and this is right up our ally, so expect more details and coverage when we get it. For now check out the announcement trailer for the Skylanders Battlecast Card Battle game below.

SuperChargers Wave 1 Ready For Pre-Order
After checking out several of the retail websites this morning, it became obvious that most of the SuperChargers Wave 1 characters are available for Pre-Order at several popular retailers. It also showed a couple of new exclusives and alternate versions which are also available for Pre-Order. Best Buy also showed a couple of Dual Packs available for pre-order, but these have a release date of 10/2. This possibly could be the date for Wave 2, so stay tuned. In the past Wave 2 follows almost immediately after Wave 1, so it’s possible. It also doesn’t say what is in the dual packs, so it could be combos of Skylanders released with Wave 1. For example, the dual pack could include maybe Stormblade and the Sky Slicer, or it could be a brand new Skylander and vehicle combo. My bet would be on Skylanders that have already come out in single packs, so you may want to wait. You would only about $3 on a pair though, so it might be worth getting them separately. We probably will know soon, as Best Buy will probably update their website any day. For now lets’ check out what is available for Wave 1.
UPDATE: Well, this morning I got an e-mail from GameStop, and sure enough they advertised that Frightful Fiesta will be “first” at GameStop. I guess even Skylanders now have timed exclusives. Also, Target is showing a Nitro Stealth Stinger, but only if you search for Skylanders and not SuperChargers.

Last week at Gamescom 2015 we got some interesting new Skylanders news about the new SuperChargers game. The biggest and most interesting news was something that we’ve been asking about for a while. Skylanders SuperChargers will feature online co-op gameplay for the first time. You and a friend online will now be able to tackle the adventure together. But that’s not all. SuperChargers will have a large focus on vehicle racing as well. There will be an all new Racing Mode featured in the game which will have different Land, Sea and Sky environments. Six dynamic tracks will come with the game two for each of the different environments. It sounds like the racing will have similarities to Mario Kart in terms of vehicular racing combat, short cuts, and speed boosts but it will all have that familiar Skylander feel to them. Players can also race online in this mode with up to four people online or race on the couch in split screen.
Activision also announced three Racing Packs that will be coming during the SuperChargers release. Each racing pack will focus on one of the three car types, Land, Sea, and Sky. They will come with one vehicle and one SuperCharger Skylander and a villain trophy. The villain trophy will open up new tracks, new modes and new challenges. You’ll also be able to face 12 villains across the 3 packs where you will gain access to the villains signature vehicle and attacks once you defeat them. It sounds a lot like the Adventure Packs in the past, and we wonder will these racing packs replace those Adventure Packs, or might there be more story level add-ons planned in the future as well?
It sounds like we will be playing a very different Skylanders game this year, and we will be playing it Online! We can’t wait! Check out the official Skylanders SuperChargers overview trailer from Gamescom 2015 below.

For each of the past two Skylanders games, there has been a special Dark Edition version of the game containing Dark variants of the starter pack characters. Well this year, because there are three different normal versions of the game, there will be three SuperChargers Dark Editions of the game. Both the Wii U and the Wii will be getting their own dark edition because they each come with a different special Nintendo character.
