Skylanders Spyro's Adventure was the first game in the Skylanders series and was released on October 16, 2011 (in the US). It was published by Activision and developed by Toys For Bob and came out for the Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, 3DS, MAC and PC. The 3DS version is a completely different version than the console counterparts and was developed by Vicarious Visions.
Spyro's adventure introduced the world to toys that you could transform into playable characters on your TV. It was an interesting concept that was supported by a very clean and polished game with fun gameplay. The character designs were all unique, interesting and fun, and sparked the imaginations of millions of kids and adults a like. 32 figures filled out an optional army of potential heroes for anyone playing the game. The gamble by Activision paid off, and figures sold at three times the expected rate, making many off them hard to find.
Skylanders is now one of Activision's most profitable franchises, but Spyro's Adventure is becoming hard to find as space is made for the newer games. Luckily it can still be found at some retailers.
