Skylanders Academy Coming To Netflix

Skylanders Academy coming to NetflixWe knew that a Skylanders TV show has been in the works since the creation of Activision Blizzard Studios last year. But until now we didn’t know where or when it would be released. But we do now! Skylanders Academy will be a Netflix Original series coming out this fall. Not only that, but Netflix has a two year deal for Skylanders Academy, meaning that we’ll at least see two seasons of it. Since it’s on Netflix, that means that the first season will be released all at once and the boys and I will probably have a 12 hour marathon. There is no word yet on how many episodes the season will have. Still, the boys and I couldn’t be more excited! The animated cartoons and promotional spots that have been shot in the past for Skylanders were always pretty entertaining and really showed that a full blown TV show could be a really cool thing if done right. We’ll have to wait until fall to see if it was “done right” but they are starting off on the right foot. Some of the game’s notable voice actors are returning for the cartoon. Bobcat Goldthwait will continue to be Pop Fizz, Johnny Rees will continue to be Jet-Vac, and luckily Richard Horvitz will continue his roll as Kaos. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Kaos. Skylanders Academy SchoolThere will also be some new voice actors joining the group. Norm MacDonald will voice Glumshanks, Johnathan Banks will be Eruptor, and Ashley Tisdale will play Stealth Elf. The cartoon is being produced by the co-presidents of Activision Blizzard Studios: Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk. Activision Blizzard Studios was created last year to create movies and television based on the publisher’s large collection of IPs and Skylanders Academy is their first project that will be released.

SuperChargers Toys at McDonalds

McDonalds SuperChargersIt’s that time a year again where the Skylanders toys appear at McDonalds. SuperChargers have landed in the happy meals. Starting this week, and lasting for probably just two more weeks, you’ll be able to collect six Skylanders SuperChargers toys at McDonalds. Each is a replica of one of the SuperCharger vehicles complete with their driver. You will be able to collect Hot Streak with Spitfire, Tomb Buggy with Bone Bash Roller Brawl, Jet-Stream with Hurricane Jet-Vac, Sea Shadow with Nightfall, Shark Tank with Shark Shooter Terrafin, and the Reef Ripper with Deep Dive Gill Grunt. The focus on these toys is the vehicle as it doesn’t look like the characters will not be able to be removed from them. If you scan each toy, you will then unlock a little game for each of the toys.

Crash Bandicoot Coming to Skylanders Imaginators

Crash BandicootSony revealed at their E3 Press Conference yesterday that Crash Bandicoot would be making his Skylanders debut in Imaginators. This isn’t the first time we’ve had a “guest” character in Skylanders. Last year we had Turbo Charge Donkey Kong, and Hammer Slam Bowser from Nintendo. Unlike with the Nintendo Characters though, Crash will be playable on any platform. He will come packaged in a special Crash Edition of Skylander Imaginators Starter Pack only for the PS4 and PS3. This pack is going to be $99.99 much like the Dark Edition of Skylanders Battlecast. That’s a little steep to just add Crash to the game. The $25 increase in price indicates to me, that you will probably get the two extra creation crystals like with the Dark Edition, but no official details have been given on what else is being included in the Crash Edition of the Starter Pack. All we know for sure is that he’ll only be packaged in PS4 and PS3 versions but he will play on any console. Imaginators with Crash Bandicoot PS4No word on if he will be released as a single character, but I would imagine that he would in the later wave of Skylanders Imaginators character releases. It’s also unclear on where or when this will go on pre-order. I’ve heard rumors of it being a Toys R Us exclusive, but as I check all of the typical retailers websites, I don’t see it listed anywhere. I’ll update the Skylanders Imaginators game page when I get conformation.

Buy One Skylander Get Two Free at ToysRUs.com

Buy One Skylander Get Two Free at ToysRUs.comWell, it looks like ToysRUs.com is having a one day memorial day cyber sale on Skylanders. According to their website, if you buy any Skylander at a price you can get two more Skylanders of that price free. This means if you buy an $8.99 Skylander you can get two free one’s but they must both be $8.99 as well. This can make ordering old Skylanders a little tricky since many of them are on sale and are at different prices. But if you can find three that you want at the same price then you should only have to pay for one of them. Pay attention to your cart if you try to take advantage of this deal. In the past from toysRUs I have had to place multiple orders to get a deal like this multiple times. Also, since this is a cyber sale, this means that it is only valid online, so don’t expect to find this deal in the store. It’s still a great deal though if you do need to catch up on your Skylander collecting!

Skylanders Battlecast Releases Tuesday May 24th

Battlecast Ultimate Starter PackWell it has been rumored for a while but indeed it looks like Skylanders Battlecast will be released on Tuesday May 24th. This comes from Amazon.com which now has a pre-order up for the Skylanders Battlecast Ultimate Starter Pack. If you are interested you can pre-order it here. The Ultimate Starter Pack comes with 2 battlepacks, 9 booster packs and a carrying case. The Amazon.com price is $59.99 but if you are a prime member you’ll save 20% and pay only $47.99.

If you haven’t heard of Battlecast it is the new collectible card game / augmented reality game for your mobile device. Physical cards are scanned into your mobile device where you’ll be able to battle with or against your friends, online or in the same room. Cards will actually come to live in augmented reality with the use of your mobile device’s camera. It sounds like it might be pretty cool, but if you are looking for a more traditional “Pokemon” or “Magic” type physical card game, you may be disappointed as it seems like the mobile devices might be required. Check out the trailer below if you haven’t seen it before.

A Slightly New Look

SkylanderNutts Slightly New LookIf you are a regular visitor to our website you may have noticed a few changes today. Today I launch a slightly updated look to SkylanderNutts. Let’s call it SkylanderNutts 1.1. You will probably notice that it’s a little easier to read, and I’ve tried to streamline the menus some. The read changes though, and the real impetus behind making the change though was to improve the mobile experience. My site was not very easy to use on your mobile device. I put a lot of work under the hood in the past few days to hopefully greatly improve this experience. And in doing that, I also rearranged a few things on the desktop site, plus added a few new features like a sticky menu and a more easy to read font (hopefully!). If anyone experiences any problems, or if I screwed up the ability to find a page that you used to easily get to, let me know by sending me an e-mail or leave a comment below.
