Today we show you how to reset your Skylanders Imaginators Creation Crystals. We demonstrate using Lias’s Fire Crystal because after creating his Fire Quickshot in our second episode of SkylanderNutts Plays Imaginators, he now wants a Fire Knight. Give it a watch!
How to Reset Your Skylanders Imaginators Creation Crystals!!!
We are only a few days away from the Skylanders Imaginators release. Are you ready? Do you know what Skylanders you want and where to go to get them? We have our plan but I want to sum up all of the Imaginators information we have for the upcoming launch. Here’s what you will need to consider when searching for Imaginators this Sunday!
1.) Which Starter Pack do you want?
The basic starter pack will be retailing at $74.99 and will include the game, a portal, King Pen, Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. If you are a Best Buy Gamer’s Club Member or an Amazon Prime member, you can save 20% making the price $59.99. This basic starter pack should be at all retailers this Sunday for the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. Please note that there is NOT a Wii or 3DS version of the game this year.
If you’ve been following Skylander Imaginators, then you already know that the game will present you with near limitless possibilities for you to create your own Skylander Imaginator. You store your new Imaginators in “Creation Crystals”. This allows you to play with your creation in the game and to take it to your friends house. But what if you could actually have your created Skylander made into a figure? Soon that’s exactly what you’ll be able to do.
Coming on launch day will be the Skylanders Creator app for your Android or Apple device. The app will transfer your character data through sound waves from your console to the app. That’s right I said sound waves. You could even share your design with your friends by making an audio recording of your character’s special transfer sound. But that’s not really the cool part. The app allows you to order your very own 3D printed Skylander Imaginator for $49.99. The figure is a sandstone printed figure and will actually work when you put it on the portal. The figure comes in a protective dome for protection. Still, it’s a working Skylander figure of YOUR creation that will come to life when placed on the portal.
While $49.99 seems reasonable to have your very own custom Skylander figure, it might not be in everyone’s budget. A cheaper option is to make a Skylander Card instead. This colored trading card cost only $14.99 and will actually work on the portal to pull your character into the game. If you have a lot of characters you love, this may be the better option. Finally if you really want to show off your creation, you can have it put on a t-shirt for just $24.99. Unfortunately, the t-shirt will not transfer your character into the game via the portal. If you want all three options, then it will cost your $90.
We think it’s really cool that Toys For Bob and Activision are giving us this option. It’s definitely something that we will probably try here at SkylanderNutts for our favorite characters that we create. I guess that puts more pressure on us to create a really cool character that we want to show off.
Look for the Skylanders Creator app on your favorite mobile device on October 16th.
Amazon might be the place to go for all of your Imaginators Launch character needs this year. Typically, Skylanders characters are released in waves. In the past there have been about 5 waves of characters that you can count on through out the year. But lately those "waves" have been falling apart. There are often special characters released in between waves, unexpected waves like for the powder blue Skylanders from last year, and of course Thrillipede and Buzz Wing were the only two characters in Wave 5 last year and most in the US have never seen Thrillipede in stores. This year we are starting to blur the lines even more. Wave 1 characters come out on launch day at all retailers while Wave 2 typically comes out a week or two later but always at Toys R Us before the rest of the retailers. This year Amazon is getting in on the mixing of waves by offering Imaginators character Packs which contain seemingly all of the characters coming in Wave 1 and Wave 2 and more. They are all available for pre-order and if you are an Amazon Prime member you will also get launch day delivery and 20% off their already discounted bundle price. Amazon makes no mention of this, but I would assume that quantities must be limited since they are selling Wave 2 characters in the bundles early and for launch. There is also no way to know how long these bundles will be available, it's possible that they may only be available for pre-order. Amazon is not yet offering single character pre-orders, so if you want the most characters you can get early, then pre-order from Amazon now!
Do you like hats? Do you like Trigger Happy? Well here is Trigger Happy modeling all 266 hat of Skylanders SuperChargers complete with the hat’s stats. These are the hats found in the Xbox One version of the game in case there are some unique hats in other versions.
My personal favorite hat is probably the Shark Hat. It’s huge and ready to eat it’s wearer! Watch the video and let us know what your favorite hat is and why! Enjoy!
Well, we are about 1 month away from the release of Skylanders Imaginators and GameStop wants your pre-order! In order to entice you into the store they are having another Skylanders Weekend starting tomorrow September 17th. For two days you can save on Skylanders SuperChargers characters and starter packs if you have not yet played the previous game. SuperChargers starter packs will be $19.99 while the Dark Edition of SuperChargers will be $44.99. You’ll also be able to pickup SuperChargers characters and vehicles at a buy one get one free discount. Battlecast cards will also be on sale with the Battle Packs priced at $7.99, and Booster Packs priced at $3.99.
You will also be able to pre-order the upcoming Skylanders Imaginators. The normal starter pack sells for $74.99, while the Crash Bandicoot PlayStation pack and the Dark Edition Starter Pack will be $99.99. Of course you will also get a Kaos Sensei when pre-ordering Imaginators. They also list some other characters for pre-order such as Dr. Krankcase, Ambush, and Barbella. However, they screwed up the ad and have Ambush listed as Dr Krankcase and Dr. Krankcase shown as Ambush, so don’t be fooled by the pictures if you don’t know who these characters are. GameStop also seems to be adding a free “Book of Kaos” bonus to all pre-orders as well. You can check out the full ad at GameStop.com.
Today we show off some of the designs that the kids have been making in anticipation for Skylanders Imaginators. We also want to let you know of some bad news that has been revealed about how the game will treat the creation crystals. I’ve already mentioned this in our Gamescom 2016 wrap up, but I wanted to re-iterate it for our YouTube fans.
Gamescom 2016 ended yesterday but during the show we did get some new Skylanders Imaginators information. While most of it was exciting news, unfortunately some of it was very troubling.
First we’ll start with the good news. Anyone who pre-orders a Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack (Normal, Dark, or Crash editions) will receive a free Kaos Sensei. That’s right Kaos is going to be a playable Skylander this year. Technically, it really isn’t Kaos it’s just his clone, but it still appears that he will be the most powerful Skylander to date. He will be able to use attacks from ALL battle classes. You can read more about his back story on his character page.
Next we got some new information about the Crash Bandicoot Starter Pack. First of all, included in the starter pack is not only Crash Bandicoot, but also a Dr. Neo Cortex Sensei. He is the villain in the Crash Bandicoot games, but like other reformed villains from Skylanders, he will be fighting for the side of good…for the time being. Also included in the Crash Starter Pack is a special bonus level called Thumpin’ Wumpa Islands. The starter pack will be exclusive to the PS4 and PS3. Fans of other consoles, don’t despair. A Thumpin’ Wumpa Islands Adventure Pack will be released separately this holiday and will work on any system. The characters that come in the PlayStation starter packs will also work on other systems should you want to bring them to a friends house.
Activision also unveiled “Mystery Chests”. These chests will unlock new creation pieces like gear, weapons and body parts for Imaginator characters. I’m a little unclear on exactly how these will work, but for now they seem like they work a lot like the old Disney Infinity power discs. You don’t know what you’ll get when you buy one, but they’ll unlock a new item for your Imaginator. I’m hoping these chests are not the only way to unlock certain items but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were.
Ok, now on to the “bad” news. The first bit of not so good news is for Wii and 3DS owners, as there will NOT be a Wii or 3DS version of Imaginators this year. I’m guessing the processing power required for this years game was just to much or too big to be contained on the Wii and 3DS.
Now for the “worse” news. This comes from an article I read on gameinformer.com which you can find here. It’s about the creation crystals. We already know that there are 10 of them, one for each element. The idea is that you create your Imaginator in one of these crystals. We also know that there are 10 different battle classes that your Imaginator can use. Well, here’s hoping that you don’t like experimenting. One of the first choices you have to make when designing an Imaginator is what battle class they will be. Once you make that decision, it is then LOCKED into the crystal. That’s right, your battle class decision is PERMANENT. You can’t reset the crystal. You can’t even reset the Imaginators level back to 1. What it sounds like you CAN do, is edit the look and design of the Imaginator. I guess you can change body parts, weapons, sounds, and abilities, but you won’t be able to change the battle class. So if you are not happy with the Smasher Life Imaginator you made, and wished you would have made a Knight Life Imaginator, you’ll have to go back to the store for another Life crystal. This also mean’s if you were wanting to create one Imaginator per class and element, you will need 100 crystals. Crystals will retail for $9.99 so that is quite a bit of money. Chances are you won’t really want or use that many Imaginators. But this isn’t about the ability to “collect them all” as much as it is about correcting your mistakes. You probably won’t understand which battle classes you even like in the beginning. You won’t have any idea which class might be best suited for a particular element. It won’t be until after you play with a few different creations before you will get a good understanding of what you really want. And let’s not forget that this is a KIDS game. I know that my kids are extremely non-committal. They change there minds constantly. They are going to create something that uses a sword, try out their attacks, and realize they’d rather have an Imaginator that shoots something, and they are NOT going to be able to make that change. To make matters worse, if you like buying used characters, you will probably want to stay away from buying used creation crystals, because you’ll be locked into whatever class the original owner chose.
Earlier, when Imaginators was first announced there were some images of different crystal designs of the same element type and we were worried that they would make a crystal per combination of Element and Battle Class. At the time they assured us that that wasn’t the case and that there would be just one design per element for a crystal. I guess we just assumed at that point, that we wouldn’t need anymore than 10 physical crystals to play the game and see all the combinations. It appears that we were wrong. As a collector myself, I’m still happy that there are only 10 physical crystal designs as I will buy one of each crystal. However, having two kids with wildly differing opinions on what makes a “cool” Skylander will mean that I’m probably going to have to buy more than the original 10 crystals that I was planing on buying. But there is no way that I’m buying 100 crystals. Quite frankly, I doubt Activision’s ability to even produce enough crystals should I want to do that. The last two years they have failed on producing and releasing everything they “said” they would make. There were several trap designs from Trap Team, either not released, or released in such a small quantity that finding them in a store was more like winning the lottery than buying a product. The same can be said for the SuperCharger Thrillipede, which seemingly was never released in the U.S. I know I’ve been going to TRU three times a week for two months and they’ve never seen it. So let’s just say, that my faith in Activision’s ability to produce what they say they will produce is not very high. I’ll consider myself lucky if I get one of each Creation Crystal, and I’ll wait for 70% off sales to pick up any extras.
So there is a wrap up of the Skylander news from Gamescom 2016. I’m still very excited for Skylanders Imaginators and I still think it’s a great idea to be able to make your own Skylander. However, if the news above remains to be true when the game releases (things could always change), then there are going to be A LOT of angry parents and long time Skylander fans which will no doubt have a very negative impact on future releases of the game. Before you go, check out the official Skylanders Imaginators: Overview Trailer, which also came out at Gamescom.
If you are an avid Battlecast player you may have already noticed, but a new update is available for the game on your Android and IOS devices. This Battlecast 1.4.3600 update includes six new cards which some fans have already found in specially marked cereal boxes from General Mills. These six cards are part of a special promotion with General Mills cereals and should be showing up on store shelves soon. There are two brand new Skylander cards in Sonic Boom and Prism Break, and there are two alternate Skylander cards in High Noon Trigger Happy, and Obsidian Hot Head. There are also a couple of new spell cards, one for each of the new Skylanders. Besides the new cards the update introduces new voice work by Buzz who will explain a little more of the basics of the game when you enter a screen for the first time. This might be helpful for new players, but if you’ve already played the game, then he really doesn’t tell you anything you don’t already know. The update also includes various bug fixes and gameplay improvements. I for one can verify that Moneybone’s Vampire Relic is no longer broken and properly disappears when destroyed. For more on the new cards that were added, check out the images of the cards (uncollected) from the game below.
