Skylanders Sale at GameStop

GameStop Skylanders SaleIt looks like GameStop has decided to add their hat to the Skylanders Sales that are going on at Target and Toys R Us. GameStop is also offering a Buy 2 get 1 free deal on core characters ($9.99) However unless you have no Skylanders, DO NOT take advantage of this deal online. When you order Skylanders online through a promotion like this, you have no control over what characters are sent to you. This is mostly due to the fact that GameStop seems to give each different character the same SKU. So if you want to take advantage of the Buy 2 get 1 free deal, I would suggest you actually go to the store.

Also on sale are the Starter Packs. This INCLUDES the GameStop Exclusive Dark Edition of Skylanders Swap Force. This is the only way to get the five Dark Swap Force Characters:

The regular Starter Pack is on sale for $49.99 while the Dark Edition is on sale for $59.99. GameStop is also offering an additional $10 off a Starter Pack when any old Portal is traded in.

There are a couple of good Skylanders character sales going on this week which is just in time for a bunch of Wave 4 characters that are on store shelves.

At Toys R Us you can buy one Skylanders figure and get one for 50% off. But over at Target you can buy two figures and get one free. These deals do not apply to the starter packs though. Also Target has all of their games this week at buy 2 get 1 free. That can be a good deal for games that rarely drop in price. Good luck hunting those wave 4 figures, now go out there and save some money.

Free Swap Force Gamer Pics and Theme on Xbox 360

While I was playing around on the Xbox 360 dashboard this afternoon I found some Free Swap Force Gamer Pics and a Free 2014 Swap Force Theme. I noticed an advertisement in the “Games” section for Skylanders Swap Force. It turns out that this more than just a common Swap Force commercial. This was promoting some of the newer characters. There are three new character videos to watch called “Short Cuts”. There is one each for Fryno, Slobber Tooth and Fire Kraken. After watching any one of the videos, you will have access to download a set of Swap Force Gamer Pics and the 2014 Swap Force Theme. (What? You didn’t know the Xbox 360 still had themes? Scroll to the bottom of the post for instructions on how to set a theme.) Now you only need to watch one character video to unlock the free downloads, but these videos are very entertaining. We loved them. It begs the question that we’ve been asking for a couple years now. WHERE IS THE SKYLANDERS CARTOON? The animated video’s and trailers that they do have always been pretty awesome. Why there isn’t a cartoon featuring these characters is beyond me. Anyway, I highly suggest you checkout the character videos, and also the Video Gallery. Here you will find some new commercials and one additional “Short Cut” video. You could also probably find these on you tube, if you don’t have an Xbox 360.

For those that don’t know how to access your themes on your Xbox 360. Follow these instructions.

  1. Move to the “Social” tab.
  2. Highlight and click on your Name and Avatar to the right of the Friends, Avatar Store, and Sign In or Out squares.
  3. The third green box should say “Change Theme”. Click that.
  4. Viola! You should find your newly downloaded Skylanders 2014 Theme here and any other Themes you may have downloaded in the past.

Swap Force Sale at Best Buy Coming 3/23

It looks like there will be a Swap Force sale at Best Buy starting this Sunday. Based off an ad scan for Best Buy starting 3/23/2014, they will be having a buy one Swap Force character get one 50% off sale. The scan shows the new swappable characters Freeze Blade and Trap Shadow, though it’s unclear if the sale is just for swappable characters or any character in the Swap Force game. Also the starter packs for all systems will be on sale for $54.99.

Toys R Us is again running their buy one get one 40% off deal on all Skylanders figures and accessories. If you’ve been holding off on some of the newer characters, now might be a good time to jump on this sale.

In addition to the TRU Skylanders sale, all Mega Bloks sets are also Buy One Get One 40% off. This would then include the Skylander Mega Bloks sets.

Skylanders Giants Lunch Tin $.99 at Best Buy

Skylanders Giants Lunch TinThe Skylanders Giants Lunch Tin is on Sale at Best Buy for just $0.99. It sounds like a clearance to me, but either way don’t let the picture fool you. This is too small and the metal is too thin to put a real lunch in it for a school child. It may be fun though as a “pretend” lunch box for a pre-schooler. Just be prepared for it to get dents. Also it can be used to hold a few characters, albeit noisily. Or buy many of them for when they get damaged, I mean they’re just $0.99. It also makes a good item to add if you need to round up your Best Buy order to $25 for free shipping.

Free Skylander with $59.99 Purchase at Best Buy

Free Skylander Best BuyNot much is going on for sales this week in the land of Skylands. The best and only deal comes from Best Buy. First the Starter Packs for Swap Force are all on sale for $59.99. Second, Free Skylander SprocketBest Buy is giving away a free Skylanders character with any Skylanders purchase of $59.99 or greater. This means if you buy the game, you can get another free character with it. Or if you just need a bunch of new Skylanders once you spend $60 you will get a free one as well. Don’t forget, Heavy Duty Sprocket – Silver is still available at Best Buy, so you might want to choose that to be your free character.

Spyro’s Adventure Triple Packs and Adventure Packs $10 @ TRU

Triple Packs and Adventure PacksToys R Us is having a 4 day sale from 1/16 to 1/20 which includes a nice deal on old Spyro’s Adventure Triple Packs and Adventure Packs. (If you can find them.) Normally priced at $24.99 these old packs will be on sale for just $10. There is a limit of two per person, but it’s not a bad deal if missed some of the older characters. I’m not sure what Toys R Us has in stock anymore for Spyro’s Adventure figures, but they always have something making them one of the best places to search for those older harder to find characters.

Silver Heavy Duty Sprocket Pre-order at Best Buy

Silver Heavy Duty SprocketA new Silver Heavy Duty Sprocket will be available at Best Buy starting on 1/12/2014 (This Sunday). It is rumored to be a Best Buy exclusive, but nothing on the Best Buy web page shows this. In the past these special colored variants have been vary limited. Also note that colored variants do not look different in game. It is only a rare paint job for the figure. The figure is listed at $9.99 but remember if you are a Gamers Club Unlocked member you will save %20 and get the character for $7.99. If you are a collector who is interested in these rare Skylanders you can jump on this deal now by pre-ordering this character through Best Buy here:
