SkylanderNutts Presents Rocket League

SkylanderNutts Plays Rocket LeagueToday Lias shows us one of his favorite games: Rocket League. Neither one of us are extremely good at the game but that never stops us from having a bunch of fun with the game. This is a game we’ll pick back up from time to time as it is always getting free updates. New arenas, new cars, new wheels and other customizable options are constantly updated. Since release, they’ve even added a few new modes, such as hockey, basketball, and an interesting power-up battle mode. There are also a ton of ways to customize your gameplay experience. We try to show you a few of those by playing a round of hockey and changing some mutators to make a crazy bouncy mode of the typical car soccer.

SkylanderNutts Presents Children of Zodiarcs

SkylanderNutts Presents Children of ZodiarcsToday I show off the best game, I’ve never heard anyone talk about. Children of Zodiarcs is a strategy RPG with collectible cards and craftable dice. It’s from developer Cardboard Utopia and published by Square Enix Collective. I discovered and bought this game during a recent PSN sale.  It has been available since July 18th, 2017. If I had heard of it, it would have been a day one purchase. It reminds me a lot of the old Final Fantasy Tactics, but it has fused customizable card decks and dice into a strategy RPG. It’s a unique mix that I am loving so far, and I only wish more fans of strategy RPGs and card and dice games knew about this game. Check out this video as I try to explain this unique game to my boys!

Children of Zodiarcs is available on the PS4 and Steam.

SkylanderNutts Presents Cuphead

SkylanderNutts Presents CupheadToday we take a look at the fantastically stylized game of Cuphead for the Xbox One. It looks like an old time Disney cartoon, but it’s not Disney at all. It’s a game by Studio MDHR. It’s a mixture of platformer, shooter and boss battles. Today we show off a couple of the boss battles as we are fairly early on in the game. Both give us a hard time, as this game is very difficult. However, Lias plays one of the battles on “Simple” difficulty, while Conner attempts the same battle on “Regular” difficulty. This allows us to see what the difference between difficulty levels is. So give it a watch and let us know what you think of Cuphead in the comments below.

Cuphead is an Xbox One exclusive and is out now.

SkylanderNutts Presents Star Wars Battlefront II (Multiplayer Beta)

SkylanderNutts Presents Star Wars Battlefront II (Multiplayer Beta)Today the boys try a little something out of their comfort zone as we play the Star Wars Battlefront II Multiplayer Beta. The boys have very limited FPS experience. They have played a bit of the Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare games and Splatoon. But this is the first time they will play a more complex shooter like Battlefront II. We start with Galactic Assault, an objective based game mode on the ground with multiple phases. Next, we try the space combat of Starfighter Assault which is an objective based space battle mode. Finally we try the Strike mode which is a little bit like capture the flag. One team needs to retrieve an object and deliver it, while the other team tries to stop them. Overall I think they did very well. Once they get more practice and start to understand the maps and the class based abilities, I think they’ll be just fine. So watch how we do as we check out what the Star Wars Battlefront II Multiplayer Beta has to offer.

We played this on the Xbox One, but the game will also be available when it releases on November 17th on the PS4 and PC.

SkylanderNutts Presents Golf Story

Today we look at our second golf game in about a months time. But this golf game leans way more towards an RPG with a golf story. And wouldn’t you know, that’s the name of the game: Golf Story. Conner saw this game on a Nintendo direct about a month ago and got very excited as did I. At $14.99 it seemed like it was worth a look. So we picked it up and today we present it to you so you can get an idea of what the game is about. Check it out and let us know what you think of the game in the comments below.

The game is out on the Nintendo Switch.

SkylanderNutts Presents Hob

SkylanderNutts Presents HobToday I show the boys a game that I’ve been excited to play for quite a while. The game is called Hob and it comes from Runic Games. Runic Games previously developed the popular Torchlight and Torchlight II games. This new game is an Action/Adventure with a heavy focus on exploring and puzzle solving to travel through the mysterious world. It also tells a wordless story. There are no directions, explanations or anything told through dialogue. It’s up to you to interpret and figure it out for yourself. Check it out and let us know what you think of the game in the comments below.

The game is out on the PS4 and Steam.

SkylanderNutts Presents Punch Club

SkylanderNutts Presents Punch ClubToday we take a look at a different kind of game. Punch Club is a simulation boxing/fighting adventure game. I love the mixture of a Sims type game with sports and multiple storyline paths. The question then becomes, will my boys like it or will they think the lack of action and direct control is too boring?

SkylanderNutts Presents Rogue Legacy

SkylanderNutts Presents Rogue LegacyToday I pull out one of my favorite games in the last five years called Rogue Legacy. It’s developed by Cellar Door Games. I originally played this game on the PC for a bit, but then when it came out on the Xbox One I had to pick it up there. I never really had the time to get back into the game on the Xbox One until now. However, I wanted to share this great game with my boys and all of our fans and try to show what a Roguelike or Rouge-“lite” game is all about. Whatever you want to call it, I call it a fantastic game. Check it out!

Let us know what you think of Rogue Legacy and if you’ve played it, and if you have any other favorite Rougelike games that maybe we should try.

We played this game on the Xbox One but it’s also available on the PC, PS4, PS3 and Vita.

SkylanderNutts Presents ARK: Survival Evolved

SkylanderNutts Presents ARK: Survival EvolvedSince we are all fans of the crafting and survival genres, I have been waiting a long time for ARK: Survival Evolved to finally be released. I think the boys will like it a lot if they can handle the in depth stats and somewhat more realistically detailed systems that they are not used to. They haven’t had to deal with managing inventory weight, or food spoilage before. Today I show them some of the early single player game. Come join us! Let us know if you’ve played ARK: Survival Evolved and what you think of it. It looks like there is plenty of ARK content to keep us occupied for quite a while. Thanks for watching!
